Australian airlines are monitoring a volcanic eruption in Bali, which has delayed or cancelled a number of flights from Denpasar Airport.
While no Qantas services have been affected, six Jetstar flights on Friday morning were cancelled and two morning Virgin Australia services – to Brisbane and Melbourne – were pushed back to the afternoon due to potential impact from the ash cloud.

“Virgin Australia’s meteorologists are closely monitoring ash cloud movement in Indonesia following the eruption of Mount Lewotobi overnight,” a Virgin Australia spokesperson said.
“Safety is our top priority and based on the current forecast we expect some delays to Bali services today.
“Guests travelling to and from Bali today should monitor their flight information on the Virgin Australia website and app.”
Jetstar confirmed that flights in Bali have returned to normal as of Friday afternoon, after conditions improved. Passengers booked on the cancelled flights were offered support including rebooking on the next available services.
“Safety is always our number one priority and our teams will continue to monitor the situation closely and contact customers directly by SMS and email if there is any further impact to our flights,” the airline said on its website.
Other airlines flying between Bali and Australia include Indonesia AirAsia, Garuda Indonesia, Batik Air, Batik Air Malaysia, and TransNusa.
