Captain Marshall will join a panel titled ‘Technology and the future of aviation’, designed to unveil the latest technology driving the industry forward.
The Australian Aviation Summit returns to provide aviation professionals with the tools and insights needed to capitalise on emerging technologies and catapult their growth in 2025.
There are a plethora of new technologies emerging to support automation, efficiency and growth, but how do these translate into practical tools to boost passenger experiences?
The highly anticipated summit covers the entire aviation ecosystem, including a revealing panel on emerging technology and the future of aviation.
The session, delivered by Captain Andrew Marshall alongside other panellists to be announced, will shed light on the latest technologies in aviation.
Members of the aviation profession will hear the latest advancements in AI, automation and biometrics as the panellists discuss how technology is transforming passenger experiences and the aviation sector as a whole.
The session will also explore the commercial applications of remote-piloted aviation systems (RPAS) to better understand what is fuelling this dimension of aviation.
More broadly, attendees will learn:
- How digital transformation in operations can elevate passenger experiences, as well as current roadblocks to delivering seamless customer journeys.
- What are the cyber security implications of increased reliance on digital platforms, as well as the broader data and privacy implications of advancements in biometrics?

About Captain Andrew Marshall
Captain Marshall is the President of AIPA and an A330 Captain with Qantas.
Having joined Qantas back in 1989, he has an established history with the airline. He began his career in the freight department before transferring to long-haul cabin crew and later advancing to a cadet pilot.
He continued his way up the ranks with Qantas, going from a second officer on the B744 to First Officer on the B767 before becoming involved with AIPA.
Shortly after joining the AIPA Committee of Management (CoM) in 2001, he was elected to Assistant Secretary. He also served as AIPA Treasurer until 2006.
More recently, he has also been involved as a member of the Long Haul EA 11.
