Out with the old, in with the New(castle)

After two years of construction, Newcastle Airport is set to open its new terminal, which promises to boost its capacity and improve its links to the world. Here, Jake Nelson spoke to CEO Linc Horton ahead of the opening.

AA: Can you give us a snapshot of how Newcastle Airport is doing at the moment?

LH: We are on the cusp of an unbelievable change. We have historically been a domestic airport that’s roughly done about 1.2 million passengers – with this $250 million worth of investment, we are that close to making that step change to be the international airport this region deserves.
