Dubai Aersopace Enterprise (DAE) has slashed a number of orders for new aircraft from Boeing and Airbus as the state owned aviation conglomerate struggles to break through from Dubai’s financial woes.
According to an update to Boeing’s orders and deliveries website, DAE appears to have cancelled orders for 10 777-300ERs and 15 787-8s. Similarly it has cancelled orders for seven Airbus A350s and 18 A320s. The orders were originally placed at the 2007 Dubai Airshow as part of a US$27.2bn (A$29.6bn) spending spree by DAE, which saw it order 200 aircraft from both Boeing and Airbus.

The cancellation appears to confirm speculation that the recent order for 30 777-300ERs from Emirates was related to a cancellation from DAE, which is understood to be struggling financially. DAE is wholly owned by the Dubai government, and also has interests in other aviation related businesses.
