A year of change

2020 will see a transformation within the drone and helicopter industries

During the latter part of 2019, Australia’s aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) announced its intention to finalise a great deal of the legislation developed during the decade-long regulatory reform process. To speed up this process the regulator will undergo a significant restructure to communicate better with operational and engineering elements of the helicopter and drone industries who are bearing the brunt of the new changes.

However, within a short time of CASA’s announcement, the federal government stated it was also undergoing a major restructure. Further, a Senate Inquiry was launched to examine the troubled relationship between CASA and the general aviation (GA) industry.
