The incident occurred on Monday morning, and the pilot was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

“When we arrived, the aircraft had crashed into trees, landing on its roof,” said NSW Ambulance inspector Andrew Craig.

“Our paramedics know that incidents involving aircraft can be extremely serious and it’s a relief the man involved today was not badly injured.

“The pilot has been incredibly lucky to walk away from this crash with minor injuries.”

The aircraft, VH-PWY, is a 45-year-old Cessna 172N Skyhawk flown by Central Coast Aero Club.

It’s reported two off duty paramedics were nearby at the time of the crash.
