Following the arrival of the USS *Constellation** at its home port of North Island, San Diego, California on June 2, the ship was formally decommissioned on August 7. Commissioned on October 27 196, the carrier was the USN’s second-oldest active warship with sister ship USS *Kitty Hawk** older by six months. USS *Ronald Reagan**, commissioned on July 12, is its replacement while its air wing will be reassigned to USS *Abraham Lincoln**.
