Study calling for a second Sydney airport says the time for inaction has passed. That’s not likely.

The latest inter-governmental commission to grasp the hot potato of a second Sydney airport released its long-anticipated study on March 2. The product of nearly three years and $8 million worth of work, the 3,000- page report offers a dauntingly thorough collection of worrying projections and stark warnings.

It says Sydney’s Kingsford-Smith Airport will reach “aircraft deadlock” within a decade – and failure to act will squander tens of billions in potential economic growth.
