Virgin Blue was Australia’s most on time domestic airline in October, the first month in 2010 for which it has been able to claim that honour from Qantas.
Virgin Blue achieved an on time departure rate of 85.8 per cent in October, up from 79.1 per cent in September, while the percentage of Qantas’s flights to depart on time fell from 84.1 per cent in September to 80.9 per cent in October, data published by BITRE (the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics) reveals. Virgin Blue’s on time arrival rate for the month was 84.7 per cent, to Qantas’s 81.4 per cent.

Tiger Airways’ on time departures level continues to languish, at 64.9 per cent for the month, with 75.6 per cent of Jetstar flights deemed on time. Jetstar had the highest cancellation rate in October, at 1.5 per cent.
Of the regionals, 89.8 of Skywest flights departed on time, as did 87.8 per cent of Regional Express’s, while QantasLink’s on time rate fell to 76.4 per cent.
