Work starts on new NSW Ambulance Bankstown Airport helibase
The start of construction work on NSW Ambulance’s new helicopter retrieval and training base at Bankstown Airport was marked with an official sod turning ceremony on September 2.
Part of the NSW government’s new $151. 2 million helicopter retrieval network announced last December, the Toll Group will operate NSW Ambulance’s southern region fleet of eight AW139s from the new base as well as from bases at Orange, Wollongong and Canberra under a 10-year contract, with extension options. The Northern NSW Helicopter Rescue Service will operate four AW139sacross the northern region of the state from bases in Newcastle, Tamworth and Lismore.
