Moorabbin-based Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) has received JAR-FCL approval from the UK CAA approval for its ATPL integrated and modular airline pilot training courses.
The approval comes following OAA’s acquisition of two new Mechtronix flight navigation and procedure trainers (FNPTIIs), one of which will be used for instrument flight training (a Cessna 172S piston simulator), and the other for Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) training and Multi-Crew Co-operation (MCC) training (a CRJ200 jet simulator).

“The JAR-FCL approval of our Australian training centre is significant insofar as we are now able to offer truly global and flexible solutions throughout our network of ab initio pilot training centres based at Oxford in the UK, Phoenix Goodyear in the USA and now Melbourne in Australia,” said Anthony Petteford, managing director of OAA’s ab initio training centres. “These ab initio training centres will now also feed a greater volume of graduates into our type training centre network based throughout Europe and in Hong Kong.”
The first students to benefit from the new approval are from the Bahrain based Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA) and Iraqi Airways, and they commenced their flight training recently. Further students enrolled on JAR-FCL training courses from Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific will arrive at the new centre during 2011.
OAA bought General Flying Services at Moorabbin in September 2008.
