The days of obtaining the CPL and getting a job the next day seem to have gone forever.

Today hunting for a flying job, particularly that first job, is harder than it has been in the past few years. The reasons are many and varied – the economy, a soft tourism industry, the mining boom slowing down etc. This means that getting selected for a vacancy, against many others, says that in some way you have to be better than the competition.
