The RACR has been tested on a F-16.

Raytheon’s Advanced Combat Radar (RACR) has completed flight trials aboard a USAF F-16 at Edwards AFB in California.

The RACR is a company funded advanced electronically scanned array (AESA) radar leveraging technology from the successful AN/APG-79, and has been designed for retrofit to F-16s, F/A-18s and other tactical fighters.

“Raytheon’s AESA technology brings unparalleled capability and reliability to the F-16 at an acquisition cost comparable to the old mechanically scanned radars,” said Brian MacDonald, RACR program manager, Raytheon’s Tactical Airborne Systems.  “RACR is now available as an option for domestic and international customers. We have designed, built and matured RACR from concept through to F-16 flight demonstration to ensure we can support any customer delivery time frames for new or retrofit aircraft requirements.”

Raytheon says its RACR team completed RACR development in a “record” 24 months.
