NT-based regional airline Airnorth will launch a new route between Perth and Alice Springs next year.
The carrier will fly three return services per week starting on 25 March, adding to its existing services from Alice Springs to Darwin, Katherine and Tennant Creek. This is the first time any airline has connected Alice Springs non-stop to Perth since the end of a Qantas route in 2022.

“Airnorth has been connecting customers from Perth to Kununurra and then onto Darwin since 2007 with flights operating each Tuesday and Thursday,” said Airnorth CEO Daniel Bowden.
“The announcement of this new service that operates every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between Perth and Alice Springs also marks Airnorth as the only carrier to provide non-stop flights that offers travellers an extra 23,000 seats over the next 12 months.”
Tony Edmondstone, CEO of Alice Springs Airport’s owner Airport Development Group, credited the Northern Territory Government’s Territory Aviation Attraction Scheme (TAAS) as helping secure the new route by Airnorth, as well as Bonza’s Melbourne-Alice Springs service that launched on Tuesday.
“Airport Development Group has a long-term vision for the Territory tourism industry and this is another significant step forward in pushing Central Australia forward as a key destination for travellers,” he said.
“We are very excited and confident about the future of the Territory and these new services will help to create positive flow-on effects for the whole economy, improving access and liveability for all Territorians.”
