• The formation occurred at RNAS Culdrose, Cornwall of the RAN’s first Sea King Mk 50 flight on 23 October. The flight consisting of three helicopters has been formed to enable RAN No. 817 Squadron air and ground personnel to familiarise themselves with the Sea King Mk 50.

•The first flight of the prototype Shin Meiwa US-1 rescue amphibian flying boat took place at Kobe on 16 October.
