East Coast Helicopters Expand Operations

City & Country Helicopters began operations as a flying training school and as the Australian distributor for Hiller helicopters in Sydney during 1978. In 1980, as part of an expansion programme, the company moved to Caloundra, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and whilst City & Country Helicopters remained in its original role, a new entity – “East Coast Helicopters” – was formed to handle the ever-increasing operational commitments.

Following a recent restructuring programme, City & Country Helicopters (trading as East Coast Helicopters) has brought together under the same administrative umbrella a rotary-wing operation unique in the Australian industry.

These commitments continued to grow at a rate that demanded the establishment of field bases and, within a matter of months from the move to Caloundra, permanent locations were developed at Bathurst and Casino, in NSW at Cooroy, North of the Sunshine Coast and at Hughenden, in far North Queensland.
