GIVE WAY TO THE LOW-TAIL: Boeing has now decided to opt for the low-tail design on the 757 aircraft.

… The low-tail design was eventually found to be marginally more efficient, a fact that was established on the recent 767 some time ago. British Airways has acquired 19 of the 186/200 seat Rolls Royce R8211 powered jets which will play centre fiddle to the Boeing 737-200 and Lockheed Tristar medium and long range trijets on BAs European network.

China Leans towards The 146

More than a decade and a half ago the British pulled off a sales coup when they sold almost three dozen Trident jetliners to Communist China. With China now rearing to join the trading world, executives of British Aerospace are working hard to interest the Chinese in joining in local assembly of the 146 project. BAe is now well versed in this operation owing to their past experience with selling 10 the Chinese and the BAC-111 local assembly deal with Romania. China is looking to an aircraft in the 146 class to replace its ageing fleet of Russian aircraft. Perhaps speculation, but it would not be surprising to see some solid British trade-offs in the commercial sector before China be allowed to purchase the Harrier.
