Register Review #393 | A slow quarter for fleet expansions

Call it some autumn blues, or simply a sluggish economy, but it appears the Australian aviation market hit a stall this quarter, with under 450 aircraft being added to the register or swapping hands. Overall, attrition was slightly higher than what we’ve come to expect with 56 aircraft being removed from the register, while the number of additions was also lower than last quarter, at just 89 new or returning registrations.
Of course, there are still some gems to discuss. Alliance Airlines welcomed two more Embraer E190 jets to its seemingly ever-expanding E-jet fleet, VH-OUQ and VH-A2U. At the same time, the airline has admitted that deliveries of its now-flagship aircraft are trickling in slower than was hoped. Yes, just two-and-a-half years after welcoming its first E190, the airline has now expanded its order to account for 65 E-jets in total as it grows its wet-lease regional empire.
