Aussat In Profile

AUSSAT Is the marketing name given to a planned communications satellite purely for Australian domestic usage, which, when operational, will benefit the fields of commercial broadcasting, television, telephone communications, business communications, and AERONAUTICAL COMMUNICATIONS.

Aussat is a company that was set up by the Commonwealth Government in November 1981 with staff seconded from OTC Australia. The company has a payroll of about fifty persons at the present time, and about one hundred and eighty to two hundred people will be employed by 1985.

At a later date, private investment will be permitted; in the interim, the Commonwealth Government will retain a controlling interest of shares. Aussat headquarters are located in Sydney.
