Synthetic vision certified for Phenom 300

Embraer's Phenom 300

Embraer has received regulatory approval for Garmin’s new Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT) on its Phenom 300 executive jet, becoming the first light executive jet to offer the cockpit feature, after Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC), the US’s FAA and Europe’s EASA gave their approval.

The SVT recreates a visual topographic landscape from the system’s terrain-alerting database via graphics modelling, which simulates what the pilot would see with the naked eye in broad daylight. The resulting virtual reality display offers pilots a supplemental 3-D depiction of ground, water, obstacles, airports, and traffic. Pilots flying in adverse weather, such as fog, rain, haze, darkness or instrument only scenarios are expected to benefit from the new technology.

A key feature of Garmin’s Prodigy flightdeck selected for the Phenom series, the SVT also offers a colour-coded landscape to display potential flight-into-terrain risks, TCAS and TIS information.
