ARINC Engineering Services has a secured US$63.7 million contract to modernise five Indonesian air force (TNI-AU) C-130B transport aircraft.
TNI-AU awarded ARINC the contract in December after a competitive bidding process. ARINC’s upgrade program includes “structural and electronic modifications” to the 30 year old C-130B airframes. Selected subcontractors will also be involved in the modernisation program on site at customer facilities in Indonesia, with work scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2011. It is expected to take between 32 and 36 months to complete.

It is the second contract ARINC has received for TNI-AU work, after the company gained an initial US Air Force Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract to perform programmed depot maintenance on an Indonesian C-130H transport used for disaster relief and humanitarian aid in July 2010. That aircraft is currently being serviced at ARINC’s aircraft modification facility in Oklahoma City.
