Australian Aviation College Takes Off:

Readers of Short Finals (p114, July 86 AA) will remember our story of woe relating to Bamey Fernandes’s battle with bureaucracy to set up a professional fully integrated flight training school offering a diploma in civil aviation.

Well it just proves that if you try hard enough you will eventually succeed, even against the often seemingly impervious world of the bureaucrat Barney’s Australian Aviation College is now officially off and running and is able to offer tertiary funding for the ground component of its 17 month live-in course. The College is situated alongside the South Australian Institute of Technology at Parafield Aerodrome, Adelaide and reportedly provides the highest standard of graduate of any similar establishment in Australia. Cost of a CPL with a diploma is in the region of $27,000 and includes 240 hours of flying training, around 50 hours of which are on Duchess twins.
