NZ Civil Aviation Dept to Be Split

April 1 sees the reorganization of New Zealand’s civil aviation administration, with considerable confusion predicted for the several months following.

Under the Labour Government’s philosophy of user pays where possible, the Civil Aviation Division will be broken into two separate bodies. An Airways Corporation will handle the administration and functioning of air traffic control services, telecommunications, navigational aids, rescue fire services and will probably include the old CAD planning division.
