Lloyd’s to Challenge Kendell’s With Mohawks:

Lloyd Aviation is to import four ex-PanAm Express (nee Ransome) Mohawk 298 aircraft to challenge Kendell Airline’s dominance of the South Australian regional market.

The move will sign an increase in capacity of 50% for Lloyds as it replaces its three Bandeirantes and a Cessna 402 with the four 26 seat pressurised turboprops. The Mohawk is a re-engined version (PT6) of the Aerospatiale Nord 262, 111 of which were built during the sixties and seventies. Skywest is to sell off two of its Bandits while the third aircraft is on a lease from Skywest and will be duly returned.
