Paris Air Show
With over 1400 exhibitors from 30 different countries, more than 200 planes, helicopters, gliders and ultralights and demonstrations by some 80 aircraft daily, it is hard for any il’)9ividual company to make an impression at the Paris Air Show, especially if it comes from far-away Australia.Yet the very size of the Show means that all those who are involved in the world’s aerospace industries are drawn to Paris every second year. If Australia is not well represented, it will be overlooked.
Recognising the problems in making an impact faced by the individual exhibitor, and also recognising that other influences, quite external to the aerospace industry, have heightened international awareness of Australia, AAAI and Austrade arranged for the Australian national identity to be the central theme at the 37th Paris Air Show held at Le Bourget June 1 1-21. Displays stressed Australia’s capabilities, with company presentations integrated to illustrate the range of activities undertaken in Australia. This strategy recognised the fact that the first-time contact would most likely be seeking capabilities in Australia and was unlikely to recognise particular Australian companies.
