Anz Order Their First 747-400

Air New Zealand has placed an order for a Boeing 747-400 series, to be delivered in July 1989. It will add to their fleet of five 200 series jumbos.

The airline’s Managing Director, Mr Normal Geary, said the order decision was driven by market demand: “Some time ago we deferred plans for a sixth 747 due to competitive uncertainties in the aviation industry. While some uncertainties still exist there is now the need for more 7 4 7 capacity if we are to continue to grow. ”
