Mascot Is Not Sydney’s Only Problem

What on earth would have happened to aviation in Sydney without World War II? Five of Sydney’s six airports were built to handle wartime emergencies. Today, it seems that peacetime emergencies will be required to generate sensible long term plans to cater for normal growth.

Sydney KSA at Mascot was well underway by 1939. The Commonwealth assumed control of Mascot in 1921 but it was not until eight years later that it considered, and then dismissed, other locations in the Sydney area as possible sites.
