We at Australian Aviation have sometimes been asked in recent times “Why doesn’t the magazine have more light aircraft tests within its pages?” A good question and one which is easily answered. A lack of current production light aircraft over the past few years is the reason, the disappearance from production of all but a handful of those aircraft with which we have become so familiar.

Long gone are the days when Cessna had 35 or so different piston engined light aircraft in production, when Piper had not too many less than that and Beechcraft also had a healthy line-up. The precarious state of the light aircraft manufacturing business has led to the situation that this is in fact the first such test in Australian Aviation for nearly five years.
