Two Crew Ansett a320s a Foregone Conclusion:

It is inevitable now that Ansett’s A320 twinjets will be operated, as they are elsewhere throughout the world, by two crew members.

Protracted negotiations between the AAFEA and Ansett have resulted in a situation where the displaced Flight Engineers can either opt for employment by Qantas, qualify for pilot training with Ansett, return to ground based duties or simply take early retirement with the not-inconsiderable financial incentive that would involve.
