Sydney Airport – The Future

The Ministerial announcement concerning the future of Sydney Airport flies directly in the face of the views of the majority of our industry.

Senator Evans advised that he did not wish to hear any arguments in support of a third runway at Sydney Airport but preferred to accelerate the development of Badgery’s Creek. Unfortunately the statement also offered some notional sums in support of the arguments that the development of Badgery’s Creek would be cheaper than the reliever runway at Sydney Airport. As reported previously in this column, we question the validity of these assumptions and see them merely as being useful for the Government to justify its political decisions.
