Fac Faces Revolt:
Federal Airports Corporation plans to introduce increased airport fees on general aviation from April 1 have met with strong opposition from interested parties and some severe solutions to a problem which threatens the financial security of most GA and Supplemental Airline operators.
In brief, the charges range from $500 per annum per 1,000kg for aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) less than 10,000kg to $5. 00 per 1,000kg per landing for aircraft with a MTOW greater than this at Bankstown, Cam- den, Hoxton Park, Canberra and other airports. At Sydney, Brisbane and other state capital cities a charge of $5. 00 per 1,000kg per landing in non-peak periods will apply, an additional minimum landing charge of $200 will apply at Sydney during peak periods.
