Cross Report Govt Response Generates Mixed Reaction

There has been a mixed reaction to new Australian Defence Force personnel initiatives which are designed to slow the high ‘wastage’ or resignation rates which have been especially harmful at the skilled and experienced levels.

The major initiatives were announced in Parliament on May 11 by the new Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, Mr David Simmons, who had the unenviable task of responding to a wide range of criticisms in the Cross Report on Personnel Wast age tabled late last year.
