F-4 Phantoms Inbound

The RAAF Museum at Point Cook, Vic is shortly to take delivery of a McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom, one of two to go to Museums in Australia.

The Phantom destined for Point Cook is understood to be an ex USAF machine that came via the USAF Museum at Wright Patterson Air Force Base at Dayton, Ohio. Shipped to Australia on HMAS Tobruk the big fighter was unloaded in Queensland and, as this column went to press, was in storage at Amberley Air Force Base pending transport by road to Victoria.
