In her keynote address, Sugita will examine the latest progress and advancements made in EO applications, as well as discuss how EO data is changing responses to disaster management.

Sugita has more than 20 years of experience in the space sector. She has held numerous roles and led several projects in fostering innovation with the private sector and international co-operation.

Among the projects initiated includes collaboration with a start-up and local government, which later won the Prime Minister’s Japan Open Innovation Prize award.

Currently, at JAXA, she is serving as the Japan lead for Earth Observing Dashboard in co-operation with NASA and ESA to make information from satellites available to decision-makers and the public.

She is also promoting public-private-academia partnerships through the Consortium for Satellite Earth Observation (CONSEO).

Sugita earned a master’s in public administration at the Harvard Kennedy School, and received a doctorate from the National Graduate Institute of Policy Studies.

To hear from Sugita, come along to the Australian Space Summit & Exhibition.

Other major headliners include Lieutenant General Susan Coyle, the effective head of Australia’s Space Command; Enrico Palermo, head of the Australian Space Agency; and Dr Ulpia-Elena Botezatu, one of the most senior figures serving on the UN’s Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
