USAF B-52 flights over Australia have ceased following the withdrawal of strategic wings from Guam to the United States. The flights- which began in 1977 with a guarantee that nuclear weapons were not carried - were primarily concerned with electronic surveillance of Soviet operations in the Indian Ocean, although they were also useful as long-range, low level training missions. It is expected that permission will be sought from Canberra to operate a limited number of air refuelled flights from Hawaii across northern Australia.

 Cessna Shuffles Citations:

Cessna has announced some reorganisation of its Model 650 ‘large Citation’ business jet family, adding two new models and dropping another recently announced variant. Gone is the proposed Citation IV, announced last year as a lengthened and more powerful version of the existing Citation Ill. Instead, Cessna is planning the Citation V I and VII, the former becoming available in April next year and the latter in early 1992. Both new models retain the standard Citation fuselage length, the Citation VI being a lower priced version of the original, retaining its 3,650Ib thrust Garrett TFE731-3B turbofans but including an avionics and interior package which will be fitted to all aircraft.
