Certification Changes to Affect CAR134 Aircraft
The CAA Board has advised that as of July it has decided to eliminate unique Australian requirements for imported aircraft. For many years importers of aircraft brought into Australia have complained that regardless of the aircraft having been certificated overseas, eg in the USA or UK, the imported machine in effect has to go through the whole first of type procedure once again in order to obtain a local Certificate of Airworthiness.
It is understood that under the new requirements it will be possible that some aircraft that are to be brought into Australia and operated under CAR134 (previously ANR108a) will now be eligible for a Certificate of Airworthiness rather than a Permit to Fly.
