The Northrop B-2 has resumed flight testing to validate its low observable characteristics. Prior to final assembly and flight, over 100,000 radar cross section images of the B-2 and its components were taken and analysed to ensure 'stealthiness' was being built into the bomber's design. Flying the aircraft in a radar environment is therefore the ultimate test of its low observability.

Kangaroo 92 to Test Defence Strategy in the “Wet”:
The Australian Defence Force will conduct a major field training exercise in Northern Australia during the ‘wet season’ early in 1992. The next in the triennial Kangaroo series of major joint exercises, Kangaroo 92 will be smaller in scale and scope than Kangaroo 89.
The exercise will focus on the joint Northem Command arrangements for the conduct of operations in the Northern Territory and the Kununurra area. The timing of the operation to occur during ‘The Wet’ was deliberately chosen to build on the valuable lessons of Kangaroo 89 and to gain further experience of the realities of operating in the Top End”. Both regular and reserve forces of all three services will participate and it is expected that a US Army Infantry Battalion Task Force comprising infantry, artillery and helicopter elements will join in the exercise. Planning for the exercise will include civilian organisations with further details to be released at a later stage.
