Ever Wonder What Sort of Meals Those Lucky Passengers on Board Transoceanic Airliners Are Enjoying While You Are Trying to Plot Their Track on Your Jeppeson Chart After Their Last Airep?

Well I think about it a fair bit being a reasonably food oriented person. And taking the long haul to Knoxville recently via Los Angeles for the ‘Monitoring Times’ convention, I had the opportunity once again courtesy of Qantas to savour some of the on board delights.

While you are clarifying your HF receiver on 5643 kHz, think about this meal which was served to us on Qantas 11 for our dinner ex-Sydney non stop for Los Angeles: cocktail of citrus fruit with Cointreau, Carbonade of beef (which was thyme marinated beef topside served with saute onions and diced smoked ham) gateau mocha, and choice of coffee or tea. If the beef hadn’t been to our liking, we could have had grilled sea perch fillets with grapes! All very yum!
