Warbirds

Aussie Vampire to New Zealand

November saw the departure of DH Vampire T. 35, VH-ICP, for New Zealand where it has been purchased by an Auckland based warbird syndicate.

Reportedly flown to New Zealand by CAA Examiner of airmen, Bill Scott, the Vampire went from Parkes, NSW, on November 19, to Brisbane and then next day flew Brisbane/Norfolk Island/ Auckland/Ardmore. The jet was escorted by Navajo ZK-ZNZ. Previously A79-649, the Vampire has been on the market for some three years but until now there have been no local buyers. Australia’s loss is New Zealand’s gain. The aircraft has been displayed at a number of airshows up and down the east coast in the last few years. It was the first jet warbird on the Australian register when it was registered here on 26/9/86.
