50 Years Ago . . .

This will be another disastrous month for the Allies, especially in the Mediterranean. Over Britain the Luftwaffe will make its last major raids of the Blitz with attacks tapering off in the second half of the month as its units are withdrawn for operations in the East. As well as hitting targets in occupied Europe, Bomber Command will join with Coastal Command in anti-shipping attacks off the Dutch and Belgian coasts and in the North Sea. May 1- North Africa. Rommel’s attack on Tobruk continues but his assaults are contained.

Britain. Liverpool is attacked in strength. This will be the beginning of a concentrated Luftwaffe effort lasting seven consecutive nights.
