The selection of either the General Dynamics F-16 or McDonnell Douglas F-18 as the RAAF’s NTF (New Tactical Fighter) will be made in mid October. Press reports indicate improved prospects for the F-16 because of last minute General Dynamics proposals for enhanced electronics, weapons systems and sensors.

• The RAF announced on 12 June that to achieve more efficient utilisation of its remaining Canberra fleet, all aircraft of thist type will be based at RAF Wyton, Cambs by the middle of next year.
