Kittyhawk Bent

At Coolangatta, Old on 15 March, Col Pay’s Curtiss P-40E Kittyhawk, VH-KTH, suffered damage when the right gear leg folded back on landing. The pilot, Ken Howard, was not injured. While the reason for the gear leg collapse is as yet unknown, it is understood that the wing and prop were damaged in the incident.

The Kittyhawk was being positioned at Coolangatta in order to be flown during the Indy car races being held at Surfers Paradise. As the aircraft has suffered worse indignities during its life it is understood that it will soon be repaired.
