Continental Revamping Image as It Plans Comeback From Bankruptcy

Continental Airlines is striving for a new image and a new future as it fights its way back from bankruptcy.

A new livery, higher standards of service, an influx of newer aircraft and one of the airline world’s most credible identities are being flagged as the weapons the US major is using to overcome insolvency following its second lapse into Chapter 11 protection in less than a decade.

That credible identity is of course Continental’s new Chairman and CEO, Mr Hollis Harris. Harris worked with Deltafor 36 years, the last four as President of what is one of the most respected airlines in the world. While most US carriers roller-coasted through the deregulated eighties in a series of highs and lows, Delta was always the symbol of stability, profitability and excellence – the yardstick of performance in terms of quality and competence amid a cut throat world.
