The Fuji FA200
The last three decades have seen the powerful emergence of the Japanese economy, to the extent that it is now one of the dominant factors in overall world trade.
The strength of its trading position bears witness to the thorough planning and successful execution of a strategic penetration of the consumerism of the developed Western nations of the world. On totally new products, Japanese industry had never led the way, rather it has picked up those segments of consumer industry which have the largest, and hence most profitable, markets.
For instance, it did not invent the motorbike, but rather developed the British product into an entirely different package, wherein the engines were small capacity, high revving two stroke units; the Box Brownie wasn’t invented in Japan either, but cameras were massively refined there, and the same is true for personal entertainment and electronic systems; the United States put the PC onto the market, Japan has since tried to pick it up. Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Honda are sure evidence of the profitability of their super efficient automobile industry.
