Jandako T Plans:

Perth’s Jandakot airport could become a bit of a money spinner for the Federal Airports Corporation if plans for it are realised. The FAC wants to develop the airport’s aviation facilities – including the building of a fourth runway- along with commercial ventures on the site. These include a silicon sand mining development on the airport’s eastern side and a commercial precinct using one-quarter of the airport’s 617 hectares. The idea is to generate cash flow to offset the cost of running the airport. An environmental impact study is being prepared.

Skyfox Expor Ts:

Skyfox Aviation (formerly Calair) of Caloundra Qld, has signed a contract to annually supply 120 examples of its Skyfox two seat ultralight to customers in Europe, Japan, the UK, PNG, Borneo, Hong Kong and other countries. Worth about $60m and expected to extend over 11 years, the contract could be further supplemented with sales In North America. Calair was purchased by former Boeing 737 pilot Graham Day last year. The Skyfox is an improved version of the American Denney Kitfox homebuilt ultralight which first flew in 1984. The Kitfox is also being built under licence in the Philippines, Portugal and South Africa and several hundred examples are flying.
