Government Rips off Aviation yet Again!

If ever there was one activity within Australia that was mercilessly used year in and year out as nothing more than a milch cow for greedy politicians, then it would have to be aviation.

Long time readers ofAA need no reminding of how the Federal Government created the Civil Aviation Authority and the Federal Airports Corporation from the remnants of the inefficient, top heavy and largely out of touch Dept of Aviation(s) of the eighties. The goal was to get rid of the bureaucratic dead wood and to create two highly efficient Govt Business Enterprises (GBE) that would greatly reduce the costs imposed upon their customers, the aviation industry, whilst also reducing the cost of subsidising the industry in general.
