Polynesian Airlines Fleet Moves

As a result of Polynesian Airlines and Ansett terminating their contractual agreements, Polynesian took delivery of a leased Boeing 737-300 from ILFC in this period. Boeing 737-3S3 5W-FAXmsn 23788 ‘Naomi’ using call sign ‘Polynesian 1737’ ferried into Melbourne on 11/04 from Seattle via Honolulu, Apia and Noumea.

After preservice maintenance with Australian Airlines 5W-FAX entered service with Polynesian on 19/04 when it operated PH854 from Sydney to Nadi and Rarotonga. In ‘Traffic’ May 92 we incorrectly quoted the registration of this aircraft as 5W-ILF while it should have been 5W-FAX. The seven year lease agreement between Polynesian and ILFC will see 5W-FAX stay only for a few months. Later this year it wi11 be replaced by Boeing 737-3S3 5W-FAY msn 23811. Both these aircraft were built on order for ILFC with their initial lease being to the now defunct Air Europe. Boeing 727-277 VH-RMN ‘Fuatino’ which Polynesian have operated on lease from Ansett since 05/87 was withdrawn from service atSydney on 18/04. On 20/04 VH-RMN was back in domestic service with Ansett though it still wore the colours and titles of Polynesian Airlines.
