Register Review
Fifty four aircraft make up the new allocations section this issue and, although nine of these are reregistrations and one is a restoration, it is a good indication that things may be looking a little better in the aviation industry.
The period covered is principally the two months prior to the SAAA Fly In at Mangalore over the Easter weekend therefore homebuilts and warbirds are prominentin the listing. Three more Denney Kitfoxes, LPX, LSY and LTG are flying, together with a factory built Skyfox JOY EAA Biplane KNV is the first of its type on the Australian register although a similar machine, the Aero Sport has been flying for a while. The biplane was designed by Paul Poberezny, the president of the Experimental Aircraft Association, in the USA (the equivalent of the Sport Aircraft Association of Australia) and first flew in 1960. The first aircraft was built by students of St Rita’s High School in Chicago using an 85hp Continental engine but over the years this has developed into the Aero Sports utilising up to a 200hp engine. It will be interesting to see which type Mr Kuhle’s machine more closely resembles.
