Register #398 | A painfully slow quarter
Interest rates may be falling in our backyard, but US tariffs, international wars and ongoing cost-of-living concerns have amounted to a painfully slow domestic aviation market. For the fourth consecutive quarter, less than 450 planes were added or traded around the CASA register in the three months to August 2025. At the same time, net growth fell into the red this quarter, with the overall register dropping by 18 planes, with 71 new registrations added, and 89 removed.
That said, while SMEs and your average aviation Joe are feeling the heat, the big players continue to grow handsomely. Qantas Group welcomed four new aircraft to its ever-growing fleet, most of which were assigned to its regional outfits.
