“Qantas is such an iconic Australian brand. As a sportsperson, I love representing my country on the world stage and being a Qantas Ambassador means I can represent Qantas wherever I am in the world,” Webber said.
Meanwhile, Virgin Blue has announced its sponsorship for Ian Thorpe, who has announced his return to competitive swimming. Virgin Blue is to be Thorpe’s “official airline”.
Virgin Blue CEO John Borghetti said Thorpe would be flying on V Australia’s inaugural Sydney-Abu Dhabi flight on February 24. Thorpe plans to spend time training in Abu Dhabi, away from media scrutiny.
